Ponderings (August 2008) - “ADVENTURE”

According to Merriam-Webster's Dictionary …

Adventure is “an undertaking usually involving danger and unknown risks; the encountering of risks; an exciting or remarkable experience; an enterprise involving financial risk”

Sharing my thoughts …

Whenever I step into the unknown I can either feel a sense of dread or a sense of adventure.  When I focus on the adventure of the unknown, my creativity is stimulated.  Whereas, when I focus on the fear or dread of the unknown, my creative thinking shuts down and I become overwhelmed.  When I remember to view life as an adventure I experience serendipity and learning.  I can more fully live and appreciate the adventure.  How do you face adventures in your life?

Questions to ponder …

  1. What does adventure mean to you?
  2. How can you seek out adventures in your life?
  3. What adventure did you turn down?  How did that feel?
  4. How can you reframe a current challenge as an adventure?
  5. What can you do this week that would be adventurous for you?
  6. What was your most recent adventure?  How did you experience it?
  7. Think of your biggest adventure.  What did it show you about yourself?
  8. Think of your work as an adventure.  How does this change your perspective?
